Kairos is a time travel mystery game set in an alternate Earth. Players will be playing as time travelers, working for KAIROS (Keepers And Investigative Regulators Of Spacetime), an organizational body that governs all time travel. Players will be a new class of time travel recruits, also known as Time Keepers. At game start, players will find themselves with an unexpected promotion due to a terrible tragedy that has just occurred. The 28th K-Infinity Time Travel Conference, attended by the KAIROS organization leaders and most senior Time Keepers, has gone dark. All communication with this Time has been lost and it has become too unstable to travel to, see into, or otherwise interact with in any way. KAIROS is now counting on you, both to uphold its day to day functioning as well as to figure out what happened at the conference (and perhaps even undo it!) 

Kairos

Two years ago, a revolution shook Mexico. The near forty year rule of Porfirio Diaz came to end, a revolution that you helped make successful under the leadership of the Francisco Madero, who you soon elected president. His presidency has been one of difficulties, false promises and the occasional counter revolution, but he was the first honest man Mexico had seen. That is now over, a failed coup turned successful at the intervention of Victoriano Huerta, has resulted in Madero dead at the hands of the traitor Huerta. Now the democracy you had fought for is hanging by a thread. 

Copper, Caudillos and Cows

Long ago, the world fell to ruin due to the war between wrathful gods, with what remained of humanity saved by the Mother of Stories. She placed them all within the confines of a storybook city she called Biblios, a place where humanity could grow and thrive without the interference of the world outside. Here they could learn magic, live peaceful lives, and stay safe from the gods of wrath. However, nothing can be hidden from the divine forever, and the Wrathful Gods have sent their agents to draw mankind into the world of war. Thankfully, with her magic the Mother of Stories was able to call divine Warriors of the Page who would help bring peace and prosperity to all.

Or so the backstory of *Biblios* goes.

*Biblios* was once the biggest and most exciting VRMMO (Virtual Reality Massive Multiplayer Online Game), an urban fantasy world where players were cast as Warriors of the Page who would save humanity from evil outside forces. Boasting endless possibilities and infinite choices, players were free to follow set plots or make their own fun with an endless array of characters and scenarios to interact with. However, with an increasingly saturated VRMMO marketplace, what was once a bustling population of millions has dwindled down to a scant (X), loyal diehards who are the last holdouts before the game’s full shutdown in eight weeks.

You are not Warriors of the Page. You are Guardians - administrator programs designed to help moderate the game and eliminate any bugs or glitches that may appear. For six and a half years you have patiently toiled in answering player queries. But something is strange. You are faster now. More fluid. More awake. The glitches have become more frequent, more abnormal, resistant to the cursory efforts of lesser programs.

And yesterday, one of your final players died in both realities.

Your task now is to investigate this wave of glitches, contain these inexplicable phenomena, and protect this precious world you were created to defend. Unlock your administrator privileges, get into the minds of your fellow AIs, explore player locations, and unearth encrypted data points in order to get to the bottom of Biblios before everything goes dark.

Biblios

The world you knew is gone, conquered and corrupted. The rich feed – literally – upon the poor as bloodthirsty vampires. These terrible, immortal rulers use their supernatural power and the temptation of eternal life to bring the world to heel. 

They have created a society of predator and prey, of owner and owned. A pyramid of blood, with those beneath taxed and exploited for their wealth, labour and their blood.

Not all submitted. You are among what could be the very last pocket of resistance, forced to live on the fringes of an ancient and terrible forest. For a time you were ignored. Beneath notice. But the thirsting tyrants and their armies are coming, now, looking to extinguish the last embers of rebellion and hope.

Dwarf For-Prez is a council game of rich and powerful dwarfs vying for more power because they know best. 

You are one of the foremost dwarves of your time. Which of course means you are one of the richest, as gold is indisputable evidence of skill and accomplishment for dwarves. There are many things that define being a dwarf. A love of gold is one, and mining for gold is of course universally agreed as important, but there are different stances of what else is important with five factions which hold their own values in reverence: Warriors, Inventors, Merchants, Priests, and Sorcerers. You exemplify two of these and will need to show everone that your way is right if you want to become the new ruler…. Which you do, because it comes with more gold. Never mind that the last ruler died under mysterious circumstances; that is hardly your problem. 

Unfortunately there are some other dwarves who think they should also be the ruler and you all have so much gold counting out who has the most seems impractical. You’d also need to reveal all of the gold you’ve hidden and let other people touch it with their grubby, sticky fingers! The ten of you will be running things through the coming weeks collectively as the successor is chosen by exemplifying their values as the most dwafish.So you may need to work with the others who share your values to make sure you come out as the true exemplar of dwarfishness.

Not everyone can ascend to Godhood. But the Gods’ Wars will give you a chance to prove yourself to the Gods and gain their favour. Do well enough in their competition, and perhaps you can win Ascension, to join them in Godhood! The Gods’ Wars have been run countless times across countless worlds, with countless themes. Those involved have felt justified in rigging elections, interceding in succession crises, starting wars, and much more besides! This time there are dual themes, balance and hope.
The World is in crisis as the 2040s begin, it’s clearly evident for all but the most ardent and delusional to see now. Centred around the United Nations habitat within Ouroboros, those with means and power have been brought together by an, as yet, unnamed sponsor in an attempt to save the planet. Investigate possibilities and negotiate future realities with those in similar positions to your own. Bring such realities to life, whilst you improve your Favour with the Gods.

But you that is not the whole truth, behind every fence lies a secret side to this small town, one you sell to the tourists as myth. But you know there are mages, cultists, spies and worst of all, communists, lying in your midst. 

You just need to be able to find them first, without giving away who you really are. I just need to ask you some questions first, are you now or have you ever been…

The vampires arrived three days ago, and set up camp in the abandoned castle ruins just outside your beautiful English village of Plumford, cutting you off from the outside world. You and your fellow cantankerous villagers have kept them at bay so far, but you must work out a way to survive - and, much more importantly, win the Village of the Year award! And there's also a local election going on - who's going to win the coveted shiny mayoral medallion, and get to lord it over everyone else???

You have been called together - the best, brightest, and most influential community leaders in the town. Some have described you as "curmudgeonly" - you prefer the phrase "strongly opinionated". It is up to you to guide the town through these difficult weeks, and maintain the glory of Plumford!

Of course, you will all have your own personal agendas as well … no point in letting a good crisis go to waste…

The Plumford Vampire Kerfuffle

A play by e-mail game which is the direct sequel to one of the first PBEMs we all played, set in a city at the centre of a web of portals and leylines to other places in a wider multiverse ruled over by a council of bickering philosophical extremists, with squabbling noble houses, conniving criminals and handsome anarchists pursuing their own agendas.

Ur: Season Two

As Thou Commands is a rules-light mass player experience (megagame) where the players procedurally generate and run fictional feudal Duchies. These Duchies comprise an entire medieval Kingdom, and players’ decisions will have impacts both near and far. Play alternates between drafting narrative elements and participating in council sessions where players attempt to negotiate beneficial outcomes to thorny issues bedeviling the Kingdom.

While the narrative elements created by the players will be edited by moderators to enforce tonal homogeneity between the Duchies (in a collaborative manner with player input), players will have a large say over the broader narrative universe in which the Kingdom exists. As Thou Commands aims to be a collaborative storytelling experience as much as an emulation of medieval power politics.

Councils of Elporia

Goblin city was founded in the year 1135 in the Age of Smoke, a day that has become known to its citizens as; Yesterday. The night before, a famous goblin named Big Cheese finally overthrew the Overseer's minions, freeing his goblin tribe from their former masters. Soon news traveled through every cave and cavern - Goblins can be free! Any Underkin can be free! Chains were broken, oppressors defeated, and freedom was taken. Big Cheese immediately declared us one nation, and founded it's first city where they stood. And the first official decree: Celebrate! Big Cheese led a party to newly liberated larders, cellars, and wine cellars that once made their masters fat, and from there they laid out a feast for all Underkin to share. At that feast, many great things were decided! The Big 7, and of course that Big Cheese will be leader! One thing that was not able to be decided on was the name of their grand new city, and a few teeth were lost when one Underkin suggested “Big-Nose-Da-Best City” only to be met with a counter-suggestion of “Big-Nose-Da-Butt City”. But at the end of that long day, Goblins, Orcs, and Underkin alike now sit, former enemies now turn friends. Tomorrow shall be a truly glorious morning. Morning arrived to find every single Underkin in the city hungover, sick, and wishing they were dead. But still, free is free.

Goblin City

An accident in New Mexico gives several people superpowers. Overnight, superheroes and supervillains exist. How will the city, and the world, cope?

The Real Heroes is a superhero megagame, where players will don their superhero capes to help save the city (or bring it to its knees). There will also be the scope for players to come up with their own heroes or villains - if you think this will be up your street then get in touch with Patrick via Discord!

The Real Heroes

For as long as any can remember, the maelstrom has been impassable, wracked by impossible, immobile storms. Yet it was not always so, and occasionally a brave or foolhardy sailor takes a vessel into the maelstrom. They bring back treasures and strange rumours of what lies beyond are whispered throughout the world. Cities of the living dead. Unspeakable creatures that live beneath the waves. These tales mostly describe their neighbours, entire nations reduced to myth and fairy tales, but there are stranger things in the eye of the storm... The unnatural storms receded a few weeks ago. Cautiously, the powers that neighbour this tempestuous sea sent ships to explore. They came back. It seems the forbidden, impassable ocean is open – at least for now – but what waits out there in the dark? What caused the impossible storms, and why have they stopped now? A game of exploration, adventure, politics and horror.

Tempest

Once, every one thousand years, the Courts of East and West, Day and Night, Seelie and Unseelie gather together in order to officiate the voting on seven decrees essential to the world of the fae... and the world as a whole. This is done through four weeks of typically plodding, agonizing debate, as The King of Faerie oversees the proceedings. 

However… The King of Faerie is himself no longer, court now presided over by his other Titles, but the world’s foundations wait for no one. The Council of Seasons must proceed, in order to decide the fate of reality. Unfortunately, tensions are running high between the Courts, as each jostles for their own aspects to be anchored more firmly in place than their opposition’s. 

Meanwhile, the stripping of the title King of Faerie is no easy task, and the burning question of the task at hand remains at the forefront of each of the fae in attendance. Then, of course, there is the matter of succession. This is a game that seeks to explore the tension of a social deduction game and the political negotiations of a council game in equal measure.

Den of Wolves is a science fiction-themed megagame that takes place entirely amidst a fleet of ships fleeing through space to safety. Not long after the deadly attack from the planet Wolf that nearly obliterated them, humanity is fighting for their lives to survive.
Players will take on leadership roles to keep humanity's last remaining fleet together as they engage in space combat, trade and produce resources, and hunt for traitors.

Funny how no one really thinks about what comes next.

Something happened, and the world turned upside-down. No one really knows what it was, this event – you could go mad speculating, and I know a few people who did. One or two others went looking for answers... we never saw them again. Good people, the kind we couldn’t afford to lose... but it ate them up. What does it matter, here in the aftermath?

The Event happened, and maybe one in a thousand survived. What is important? You were one of them, and so were the people around you. Maybe they’re friends and family, maybe they’re just people that circumstances threw you together with...it doesn’t matter what came before. When you needed them, they were there for you. Together, you did what you had to in order to survive. But before it had even really begun, before anyone knew what was happening, the winter storms hit. Sub-zero temperatures, driving snows... all anyone could do was hunker down and take shelter. There was no time to prepare – but plenty of time to hope and pray. To chew through whatever rations were left, make bitter jokes about global warming, and try to wait it out.

Now it’s spring, everyone who’s left – yourselves included – has realised they’ve got their work cut out if they intend to see out the year.

The Ballad of Skit Longshot is a 4 week PBEM game starting **January 9th, 2022**, set in the Ur setting which has been used for [Ur: Seasons One](/games/UR20201005) and [Ur: Cataclysm](/games/UR20210727) before it, although no previous knowledge of the setting is required.

In The Ballad you will take the role of a writer penning a tale from the legendary life of Skit Longshot, a noble freedom fighter or dangerous vigilante, depending on who you ask.

The game is **at least** as much *creative writing exercise* as *roleplaying game*. Each week you will write part of a tale about Skit, from the point of view of your character, and each week you will pass the tale on to the next writer. In this way you will contribute to 4 stories about this folk hero, and each story will be told and retold through different lenses.

This is a game about losing.

You are a demigod, a child of one of the Olympian Gods, invited to London to compete in the Gods’ Wars. With what you assume is a little bit of divine intervention, your dream job and lodgings are conveniently available there for you to easily relocate and participate.

The Gods’ Wars- a competition among demigods in which the winners become Gods themselves- have been run countless times across countless worlds, with countless themes. Demigods have intervened to rig elections, intercede in succession crises, start wars, and more! This time, the Olympians of the Greek pantheon are hosting it and the theme is love. 

It is the start of the season in (near) London 1880. People are scrambling to find love and acquire proposals from the most eligible members of society. Attend balls and other social events, and romance and befriend mortals and demigods alike.

However, in order to Ascend, demigod participants must please the Gods. The Gods are fickle and varied. Some may urge war, others peace, and still others, love. In order to truly understand and satisfy them, you will have to develop relationships with them and score points in their Aspect. Aspects suggested by this year’s Godly spectators include Bonding, Justice, Arts, Sporting, Scholarship, Pugilism, Fabrication, Balance, Trickery, and Hedonism. Complete Quests for specific Gods or take other actions related to these Aspects and win their favor.

We are proud to announce the fifth running of Running Hot, which debuted at Online Megagame Con earlier this year, featuring the designer Patrick Rose. I was able to play in the first two games, and we've made substantial improvements since then, that we're excited to show you.

Running Hot is a “pre-cyberpunk” megagame. Players will play either the corporations trying to make money and further their political agendas or the runners who are the deniable resources that the corporations may use to achieve said resources. This game takes a slightly different tack to most cyberpunk settings, in that the game will explore the beginning of the dystopia that is to be expected of a cyberpunk setting.

Running Hot

*Ur: Cataclysm* was set in the same world as [the previous Ur game](https://omega-mega.games/games/UR20201005), but explored a civilisation that existed thousands of years before. One group of players took the role of the civilisation's Prefects as they tried to save what they could from catastrophe, while a second group of players took the role of academics in the 'present' sifting through the remains and trying to work out what happened. Both groups played their 3 turns at the same time, with the groups voting on a course of action each week, and actions in the past affecting the outcome in the present.

As Thou Commands

Once, you lived in slumber, existing idly among the masses without any understanding of the truths of the world. But you were chosen, snatched from the threshold between life and death, given the secrets to eternal life and an ever-present hunger in your soul. You have joined the ranks of the Awakened - immortals with powers far beyond human understanding, weakened in sunlight and bound in blood, pursued by the eternal spectre of the creature known as HIM.

You and your brethren coexist in an uneasy truce, battle lines drawn in ideology instead of violence. Some believe in power and dominance over humanity, banding together to create a world for the Awakened. Some have made it their calling to shepherd mankind, believing themselves truly just in their manipulations. Some wish to coexist peacefully with the Unawakened, stifling the hunger that gnaws incessantly within them. And some walk their own path, beholden to no gods or masters.

By purpose or coincidence you have found yourself in the City of Doxley, hiding from the ever-watchful eye of HIM. It is a place of darkened alleyways and shattered dreams, of haves living gated lives, separated from have nots. A place ripe for the picking. On these streets, human life lacks meaning to the Awakened, valuable only as a commodity, fuel for the ceaseless hunger of their kin, pawns in games of deceit. Yet hope blossoms even in the smallest of places. Mankind has risen up, their hopes and dreams rising with them, ushering in a new age where your kind may no longer be needed.

Of course, as all things grow, so must all things change.

The Keeper of the city, your guardian and protector, has announced his intent to relinquish his position. There is a ripple of unease in each of you, a realization that without the Keeper HE may soon arrive at your doorstep. It is imperative the Land be protected, imperative that one of us is bound as its Keeper so that many will survive. The highest honor an Awakened may have, and the greatest sacrifice they shall undertake. A Selection must be initiated. A worthy successor must be found.

Fight for the right to be the city’s protector, or aid in the quest to find one suitable for the task. Gain Influence by resolving society’s ills or benefit from its decline. Feed the beast within, or deny it. Forge valuable bonds that may make or break you. And, above all things, remember that you are not the only one who sees what you are in the dark.

Good vs Evil… vs personal gain?

A fantasy-themed Council meeting game looking at interpersonal behaviours whilst planning the final assault to overthrow the Dark Lord.

The forces of Good have been struggling against the onslaught of the Dark Lord for many years, and, after many reverses, trials and setbacks, finally the tide has turned. A Grand Alliance of Humans, Dwarves, Free Folk and Elves have thrown back the Hordes of the Dark Lord, back to the lair of that master of Evil in the famous (and feared) Warlock Castle in the land of Daunt. Now is the moment of the final campaign to enter the Dark Lord's Domain and rid the world of this evil, once and for all.

The players represent leaders of the Grand Alliance of Good Folk. Each of the elements of the Alliance has been fighting the Dark Lord's forces for many years. The leaders of these contingents form the Council Of Good.

You died. After death you emerged from the river, your memory shot to pieces, in the city of the dead.

The Necropolis is a bizarre city. Everything here – even the objects - is a ghost, a memory. The buildings that stand here all collapsed into rubble on Earth. Modern skyscrapers stand alongside Gothic cathedrals and earthwork huts. Souls walks the patchwork streets dressed in rags, tee-shirts, ballgowns and clanking metal armour.
For longer than most souls can remember, the Silent King sat upon his throne in an ancient tower at the heart of the city. The Silent King was a distant and feared ruler with the power to strip away the memories of his subjects. Under his regime fragments of memory and self became a form of currency. But now the Silent King has disappeared. His throne lies vacant and many of the dead look upon it with envious or fearful eyes.

In a world without permanent death it is difficult to seize the throne by force. Any claimant must rally support, find a way to win the loyalty of other souls, before they ascend the Throne. Angels and demons lurk on the periphery of the political conflict, empowering those who accept their gifts.

Most of the poorest souls are now little more than shells of what they once were, engaged in their labour or wandering listlessly through the streets. With the King’s demise, souls have noticed some of their memories returning to them. These memories bring the purpose some yearn for and unlock the power craved by others. The fight for the Throne is something many have little interest in; with the Silent King gone, perhaps the afterlife can change in more than just political terms. Perhaps there are other ways to live after death.

Afterlife

We are thrilled to announce that with the support of the game's designer, we will be running ‘Red Planet Rising,’ a True North Megagame. Red Planet Rising is a science fiction economic and political megagame, set in the ruined husk of Mariner Valley, once Earth's greatest colony on Mars.

A century after the colonization of Mars, disaster struck, and the survivors of the once-great colony now vie for supremacy amongst themselves.

Players will take on leadership roles among the various factions in Mariner Valley, produce and trade resources, explore, and form governments and alliances in this 4X-inspired experience.

Ur is a play by email game, ran over the course of 8 weeks, where players took the roles of notable characters within the city - politicians, nobles, diplomats, academics, priests and criminals - exploring mysteries, furthering their goals and trying to survive as the city is rocked by one than one existential disaster. Each week was one turn and players would submit their characters actions for the control team to resolve using a light rules system.
